7bdt Cricket Betting — A Complete Guide to Betting on BPL, IPL and International Matches
Betting markets for every cricket format — T20, ODI, Test — how to read odds, and a full breakdown of live betting, all in one place. This page explains in plain language how cricket betting works at 7bdt.
Cricket's three formats and how they differ for betting
Each cricket format has its own pace and strategy — and that makes for a different betting experience too.
The fastest format
In just 20 overs, every ball counts. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are the biggest events in this format. Odds move fast, which makes live betting especially popular here.
Quick results High-scoringThe fifty-over contest
In ODI matches, both batters and bowlers have enough time to build a plan. This format features in the ICC World Cup and bilateral series. There is also more variety in the betting markets.
ICC World Cup Series bettingCricket's ultimate test
In a five-day Test match, a draw is a possible result, so there are three markets — Team A wins, Team B wins, draw. Pitch conditions, weather and innings performance influence odds gradually.
Three outcomes Pitch analysisWhich competitions do fans follow the most?
BPL holds a special place for cricket fans in Bangladesh — it is the country's domestic T20 league and familiar Tigers players feature in every match. IPL is India's top T20 tournament, so its matches draw active betting markets too. The T20 World Cup and ICC World Cup offer the chance to watch international teams compete while also having a bet.
Bilateral series — such as Bangladesh vs various countries — also appear regularly in the betting markets. 7bdt has separate markets for all these competitions. Alongside sports betting, live casino games are also available at 7bdt Casino.
Betting on football and other sports
Beyond cricket, football is also widely followed in Bangladesh. 7bdt offers betting on World Cup, Premier League and Champions League matches. There are some fundamental differences between cricket and football betting, though.
In football, the match winner market has three outcomes — home team wins, away team wins, or draw. In T20 cricket there are no draws, so you bet on one of two results. In Test cricket, however, a draw is possible again, bringing back three options — just like football.
Football has markets for number of goals, corners and cards; cricket has runs, wickets and over/under markets. Both allow multi bets — combining multiple selections into one bet — but all selections must be correct for a full win.
Football vs cricket betting
- Football has three outcomes including a draw; T20 has two
- Cricket has over/under runs markets; football has goal lines
- Multi bets available in both
- Live betting is popular in both sports
- Cricket has a toss market; football does not
Popular cricket betting markets
Multiple markets are open for each match. Below are seven main markets explained with simple examples.
Match Winner
You pick which of the two teams will win. Example: in a T20 match between Team A and Team B, you think Team B will do better — so you bet on them. If you are right, you win according to the odds.
Toss Winner
A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. This does not depend on the ground or match conditions — it is completely even odds, so the prices are usually close to equal.
Top Batsman
You predict which player will score the most runs for a team in the match. Example: pick the batter from Team A who will score the highest — if you are right, you win.
Total Runs Over/Under
A line is set — for example, 160 runs. If you think the match will produce more than 160, choose "Over". If you think it will be fewer, choose "Under". This market is also available for individual innings.
Multi Bet
Combine selections from multiple matches into one single bet. Example: put three selections from three matches together — all must be correct to win; one wrong and the entire stake is lost.
Powerplay Runs
A bet on how many runs a team will score in the first six overs — over or under a given line. If wickets fall or runs come quickly, live odds update instantly.
Top Wicket Taker
Which bowler will take the most wickets in the match. On a batting pitch, the odds for this market are generally higher because taking wickets is harder. On a spin-friendly pitch, a spinner may have lower odds than a pace bowler.
How to read odds — three formats
Betting sites display odds in three different ways. Here is an example to explain — Team A wins, stake ৳1,000.
| Format | Team A's price | Return on a ৳1,000 bet |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.50 | ৳2,500 (৳1,500 profit + ৳1,000 stake) |
| Fractional | 3/2 | ৳2,500 (same result) |
| American | +150 | ৳2,500 (same result) |
All three formats express the same value — decimal 2.50, fractional 3/2 and American +150. A ৳1,000 bet on Team A returns ৳2,500 if they win (৳1,500 profit plus the original ৳1,000 stake). If they lose, the ৳1,000 is gone.
Favourite team's odds
If Team B is the favourite, their price will be lower — for example decimal 1.50, fractional 1/2, American −200.
American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100. −200 means you need to bet ৳200 to win ৳100. A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,500 (৳500 profit).
Live in-play betting — placing bets while the match is on
You can place bets even after a match has started — that is in-play betting. Every over and every wicket affects the market odds instantly.
Say Team A is batting and has scored 60 runs in the first five overs without losing a wicket. In that situation, Team A's odds to win will shorten because they are in a strong position. Team B's odds will lengthen.
A wicket changes things the other way — when a key batter is dismissed, the bowling team's odds shorten and the batting team's odds lengthen. This constant movement is what sets live betting apart.
- Watch the scorecard and match the odds as you go
- Check the run rate at the end of the powerplay — it will be useful for the next over's market
- Decisions need to be quick — stay within your budget
Useful tips for cricket betting
What to know before you start betting
- Rather than placing a large amount on one market, explore more markets with smaller bets — betting is for entertainment.
- The more selections in a multi bet, the less likely they all come in. It is sensible to keep it to three or four selections.
- The toss winner market has even odds, so it can be an easy starting market.
Bet responsibly
- Set a budget in advance and do not go beyond it — it is best not to chase losses.
- Betting is entertainment, not a source of income. Read the Responsible Gaming page to learn about the rules.
- Betting is strictly prohibited for anyone under 21.
